HOW TO DEAL WITH THE

LAW SOCIETY OF THE

NORTHWEST TERRITORIES

Complaints?

The Law Society of the Northwest Territories under authority of the Legal Profession Act, investigates all formal complaints regarding the conduct of lawyers practising in the Territory.

If warranted, complaints may be heard by a committee of inquiry or sole inquirer, who then decides on the outcome of the complaint.

Matters proceeding to inquiry are unproven allegations, which have not yet been the subject of a hearing to determine validity.

Results of hearings and regulatory notices on the Law Society of the Northwest Territories website are displayed for a period of two years.
