PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS:  You are not going to get rich suing your ex employer, but make sure you are not being short changed either. Ask an employment lawyer to review your situation.

 You may be eligible for compensation over and above what was offered.  Any opening offer made by your employer will usually be a low ball offer. Do not be bluffed by phony deadlines or high pressure tactics. The trick is deciding what your counter offer should be and how to present it.

If you use a lawyer to negotiate your settlement, your ex employer will know you are serious and not going to be bluffed into a low ball settlement. If you have signed away your rights, there is virtually nothing you can do unless you prove some sort of coercion.
